KidFit 60: Healthy Snack

An active, fitness-based alternative to traditional before and after school programs and child care.

KidFit 60: Video

Are you having problems trying to meet daily activity goals for your child? Would you like your child to develop a sense of appreciation for movement, develop skills, confidence and friendship? If so, KidFit 60 is your answer! As childhood obesity and health issues are on the rise in Canada, we need to find a way to reach daily activity goals for our children. KidFit 60 is designed to help meet these fitness goals by providing members with a structured, active, fun, safe, and interactive environment.

As an alternative to traditional before and after-school daycare programs, KidFit 60 exposes children ages 6-12 to planned daily exercises and games designed to improve both physical and mental health, and to build the foundation of a well-rounded healthy lifestyle.

KidFit 60 is an activity-based program for children ages 6-12 that is developed by physical education teachers and qualified child care staff. We offer a variety of athletic activities that focus on growth and development while having fun and being safe.

KidFit 60 offers one hour of movement activities, using either the indoor soccer complex, gymnasium or the outdoor facilities at the Garden City Community Centre, located at 725 Kingsbury Avenue, and is a 10-month program that runs Monday through Friday from September until June. We also offer Summer care, school closure dates and holiday breaks. Shuttle service is available as well as Seven Oaks busing to many schools in the surrounding area. A snack is included in the program.

A variety of different sports and child care activities will be used to create a balanced learning and movement based program that is holistic and inclusive to children of all ages and skill levels. Children will receive the guidance and support they need to increase their confidence and self-esteem. Each of our children will be treated as an individual as well as an essential member of our program.

Qualified staff, led by our site supervisor and a physical education teacher will provide the children with the guidance and motivation needed to grow in all areas of growth and development. Passion for sport and working with children will result in the continue success of our program.

1- Seven oaks bussing transportation is available to certain schools in the area. Please call transportation at 204-338-7051 to see if your child qualifies for bussing.

2- We have two 15-passenger shuttle vans that we use to transport children from school to our facility at 725 Kingsbury Avenue. This service is for after school care ONLY. They do not run for the morning services. Please note that this service is limited based on the number of students requiring transportation assistance, and arrangements will need to be made in advance. For more information regarding transportation services, please contact us by email at

Because the program is based on activity and movement, we ask that all children bring a change of clothes consisting of shorts, shirt, and a clean pair of indoor running shoes. Children should also have a water bottle with their name on it.

During warmer weather, children will participate in activities on the outdoor field - please make sure to dress for the weather.

We also ask that any children with a medical condition, such as asthma, or with any severe allergies, to please bring their medication on a daily basis.

Children may be picked up between 5:00 - 5:45 pm.

We understand that life can be busy and problems sometimes arise, and so we ask that any parents who are going to be late to please phone one of the KidFit 60 contact numbers (204-306-3718 or email kidfit60attendance@gmail.combefore 5:30 pm. If late pick-ups become a frequent issue, then a late pick-up charge will be implemented as late pick-ups affect our staff. We hope that having trust in our families will result in a mutual respect for one another.

If a parent is late for pick-up and does not contact KidFit 60 staff, a phone call process will begin starting with the primary contact number. If there is failure to reach the primary contact then the secondary contact and emergency contacts will be called in that order.

We ask that parents email or phone (204-306-3718 or email to let us know of any absences. As we expect to see students on a daily basis in the program, it is extremely important to have proper communication between parents and KidFit 60 instructors. Daily attendance will be taken as children arrive.
