WHAT IS KIDFIT 60?
An active, fitness-based alternative to traditional after school programs and child care.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Are you having problems trying to meet daily activity goals for your child? Would you like your child to develop power, speed, strength, and confidence? If so, KidFit 60 is your answer! As childhood obesity and health issues are on the rise in Canada, we need to find a way to reach daily activity goals for our children. KidFit 60 is designed to help meet these fitness goals by providing members with a structured, active, fun, safe, and interactive environment.
As an alternative to traditional after-school daycare programs, KidFit 60 exposes children ages 5-12 to planned daily exercises and games designed to improve both physical and mental health, and to build the foundation of a well-rounded healthy lifestyle.
KidFit 60 is an activity-based program for children ages 5-12 that is developed and administered by physical education teachers and support staff, affiliated with the Garden City Community Centre. We offer a variety of athletic activities that focus on growth and development while having fun and being safe.
KidFit 60 offers one hour of indoor soccer complex use and one hour of gymnasium use Monday through Friday at the Garden City Community Centre facilities located at 725 Kingsbury Avenue, and is a 10-month program that runs from September until June. Shuttle service is provided: we will pick up your child from school and bring them to the soccer complex, and a healthy snack is included in the program.
A variety of different sports and activities will be used to create a balanced fitness program that is holistic and inclusive to children of all ages and skill levels. Participants will receive the coaching they need to increase their confidence and self-esteem. Each of our students will be treated as an individual as well as an essential member of our team.
Professional staff, led by physical educators, will provide students with the guidance and motivation needed to grow in all areas of athletics. Passion for sport and athletic growth by our staff will result in the continued success of our students.

WHAT TO BRING?
Because the program is based on activity and movement, we ask that all students bring a change of clothes consisting of shorts, shirt, and a clean pair of indoor running shoes. Students should also have a water bottle with their name on it.
During warmer weather, students will participate in activities on the outdoor field - please make sure to dress for the weather.
We also ask that any students with a medical condition, such as asthma, or with any severe allergies, to please bring their medication on a daily basis.
SNACK PROGRAM
KidFit 60 offers a healthy snack option which is included in the program. Snacks will include a variety of healthy, energy-filled foods such as bananas, granola bars, yogurt, or mixed berries, as an example. Our snacks will always be nut-free to reduce risk of an allergic reaction.
PICK-UP TIMES
Students may be picked up between 5:30 and 5:45 pm.
We understand that life can be busy and problems sometimes arise, and so we ask that any parents who are going to be late to please phone one of the KidFit 60 contact numbers (204-781-8582 or 204-999-6707) before 5:45 pm. If late pick-ups become a frequent issue, then a late pick-up charge will be implemented as late pick-ups affect our staff. We hope that having trust in our families will result in a mutual respect for one another.
If a parent is late for pick-up and does not contact KidFit 60 staff, a phone call process will begin starting with the primary contact number. If there is failure to reach the primary contact then the secondary contact and emergency contacts will be called in that order.
ABSENCES
We ask that parents email or phone to let us know of any absences. As we expect to see students on a daily basis in the program, it is extremely important to have proper communication between parents and KidFit 60 instructors. Daily attendance will be taken as students arrive. If a child is absent without an instructor's knowledge, steps will be taken to ensure child safety.
